LOUISE KIRK

Louise Kirk is a young artist based in Copenhagen where she works from her houseboat studio. Her artistic journey began in her teens decorating vintage handbags, which developed into her own label in 2011. She has been admitted to The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts – School of Design and will begin her studies there soon.
Her decoupage designs are typically characterised by an Art Nouveau style with references to classical fairy tales. The themes take inspiration from a dream of travelling to a special place or capturing a childhood memory. Using a combination of her own drawings and illustrations sampled from antique books, the pieces transform into tales of an imaginative world. This is the first time in 150 years since the original publication of the book that Alice in Wonderland has been interpreted through a collage.
